·
Students should come twice a week or more depending on their program.
·
2 Good Deed sheets are due for kids to receive 1st and 2nd knowledge stripes & a practice sheet is
due by testing.
Each good deed sheet consists of 8
deeds. These can also be written on
notebook paper.
·
Tiny Tigers are not required to do good deed sheets or practice sheets.
·
Students must pull their attendance card. Permission to test can be denied due to lack
of attendance even if material is known.
·
Please try to be on time but if you come in late, pull your card, raise
hand and ask for permission to join class.
Bow to instructor when permission is granted.
·
Bow before you enter & leave the workout floor (carpeted area)
& at front door.
·
All students must stand when the oath is being said even if not in
uniform. Parents and other observers,
please remain quiet during the oath as it reinforces the respect we are
teaching the students.
·
Please keep the noise level down in the lobby as it can be distracting
to the class.
·
Please do not allow children to sit or climb on counter or shoe rack. Please be respectful of the area; clean up after
your children should they play with the toys.
The next family will appreciate it.
Supplemental information:
Every
8-10 weeks there is a formal testing to allow students to advance to the next
belt rank. Testing involves:
·
Performing form and one steps in front of a panel of judges (2-3+). Sparring and board breaks are required at
higher ranks. The testing process is an
important part of the training. Please
give it the respect it deserves.
·
Women may wear a white t-shirt or sports bra under their dobak top and
men should not wear anything under their dobak top. Please check the dress code policy for all
rules.
·
No jewelry during testing, tournaments & classes. This is for your safety.
·
Testing usually takes place on a
Friday night at the studio for Tiny Tigers or on Saturday mornings for Karate
for Kids and adults at another location (usually Turnstone).
·
Tiny Tigers usually do “half-steps.”
This is where they perform ˝ the form and 1 one-step for the belt
“recommended” and next testing they do the whole form and 2 one-steps for the
next color belt.
·
There is an additional fee associated with testing and it varies by
rank ($50 for white belt, includes annual ATA membership, and $35 orange -
green).
·
Testing fees are due prior to testing or a late fee of $10 will be
charged.
·
Fees cover the costs of new belts, certificates, facility rental, cost
of wood or re-breakable boards, and associated fees.
·
The student will be awarded their new belt at rank ceremony the
following week.
·
Students should wear their uniform with their current belt to the rank ceremony.
·
Students should continue to come to current rank classes until after
the belt ceremony.
